Bagh Bhairab Jatra
Bagh Bhairab Jatra is a unique Kathmandu festival that’s celebrated in Kirtipur on the 1st day of the Nepalese month Bhatra (around mid-August each year).
It takes place at the temple of Bagh Bhairab with devotees coming throughout the day to pay homage to Bagh Bhairab – Lord Shiva in the former of a tiger.
During the festival, people circumnavigate the temple throughout the day and offer puja (blessings), while dancers and musicians perform. However, the main festivities take place in the evening, around 6-11pm.
