When to Visit

With a moderate climate, Kirtipur can be enjoyed at any time of year. Be sure to plan your visit around one of the numerous annual festivals and events celebrated throughout Kirtipur.


June - August

Trees and fields are dotted between houses in a valley, with hills rising on the other sideExpect warm and humid days as the landscape becomes bright green. There will be periodic heavy rain during this time as it’s Nepal’s monsoon season but you're rewarded with great views of Kathmandu Valley after downpours.


September - November

Wandering through the town, you'll see rice, chillis and vegetables drying in the streets. It’s the perfect season to enjoy hiking and biking in milder temperatures.


December - February
The hills of Champa Devi and Chandragiri are dusted in snow on a clear, blue dayNights are cold but the days are fresh, crisp and sunny. This is when the best views can be had of the Himalayas and Kathmandu Valley. It’s also the season for birdwatching at Taudaha Lake as Siberian birds migrate for the winter.


March - May
