With a moderate climate, Kirtipur can be enjoyed at any time of year. Be sure to plan your visit around one of the numerous annual festivals and events celebrated throughout Kirtipur.
June - August
Expect warm and humid days as the landscape becomes bright green. There will be periodic heavy rain during this time as it’s Nepal’s monsoon season but you're rewarded with great views of Kathmandu Valley after downpours.
September - November
As the rains ease, this is the time to see fields turning golden before being harvested. Wandering through the town, you'll see rice, chillis and vegetables drying in the streets. It’s the perfect season to enjoy hiking and biking in milder temperatures.
December - February
Nights are cold but the days are fresh, crisp and sunny. This is when the best views can be had of the Himalayas and Kathmandu Valley. It’s also the season for birdwatching at Taudaha Lake as Siberian birds migrate for the winter.
March - May
Enjoy the warmer weather and longer days with hikes and visits to Kirtipur’s nature areas as colourful flowers bloom throughout the region. Head into the hills to see the red and pink rhododendrons, Nepal's national flower, dotting the landscape.
